The Commuter challenge freestanding mural

Get Downtown by The Ride, the Ann Arbor Transit Authority

what if Public transportation was fun?

The Commuter Challenge is a program designed to engage riders of the Ann Arbor Transit Authority. In 2024 we teamed up to make environmentally responsible transit more fun. The Commuter Challenge freestanding mural was a project inspired by the badges scout members earn for accomplishing challenging tasks. Each “patch” was designed and painted by hand, as well as the freestanding mural structure itself. With wheels and weights the mural was staged in several different locations throughout the duration of the challenge, including the Ypsilanti Transit Center, Liberty Plaza in Ann Arbor as well as the Ann Arbor Transit Center. Freestanding murals are the perfect solution to wanting custom artwork, but not wanting permanent installation.

Custom Built

This freestanding mural stands 7’ x 7’ and can be assembled and disassembled as needed. Caster wheels make it transportable, and a cool custom hand painted design makes it yours! (Believe it or not, I transported it in 4 pieces in the back of my small SUV, never underestimate a woman on a mission!)

From Idea to reality

From inquiry, to project proposal, to installation the Commuter Challenge freestanding mural was a pleasure to create.
